Healing the Scourge*   ritual-performance

 

This ritual is inspired by an ancient Japanese tradition which says that when somebody used to keep an unconfessed secret, there could be only one way he could confess it. He had to climb on the mountains, find a tree, open a whole on it, whisper inside it the secret, and after all to close the hole with clay.

The exhale I offer to this tree is the opposite from the breath. Exhale is for humans and non-human animals the announcement, the signaling of Death. It is a strong symbol of the End of Life. The exhale of a man is the breath of a tree, as carbon dioxide is what oxygen to humans. My exhale is offered to the tree as an offering of my symbolized personal death. This gift is the present of my life. “My personal death your life, tree”. The earth with which my face is painted has deformed it into a funerary mask. Announcement of death, deathly silence, Requiem.
