KOZIAKAS   video - performance

 

Koziakas is an oblong mountain placed in central Greece. Its lenght is about 25 km long, and its highest peak 1.901 m high. Dense conifer and decicuous forests, with rich biodiversity and morphology, cover the most of its surface. More than 3000 plants and trees have been measured and hundreds of different species of birds , mammals, and insects as well. The brown bear (Ursus arctos), wolves, wild hogs, eagles and others, are some of the wild habitats of the area. A unique and unknown ancient forest of old chestnut trees (Castanea sativa), lies upon the mountain's tablelands, facing serious problems such us, soil corruption, illegal logging and hunting, water contamination, and overgrazing.
